About the Peabody Children’s Chorus (PCC):
The Peabody Children's Chorus (PCC), founded in 1990, is a celebrated program that serves over 350 young singers. PCC emphasizes artistic excellence through a varied repertoire and skill-based learning, promoting personal growth and discipline. The chorus performs two major concerts each year, in December and May, and collaborates with esteemed ensembles such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Peabody Symphony Orchestra. Biannual tours have taken PCC to destinations including Italy, France, Germany, Austria, England, Scotland, and Hawaii.
PCC holds weekly rehearsals at various locations in Howard and Baltimore Counties, along with Baltimore City:
- Training Choir: Ages 6-10, 60 mins, M-Th
- Choristers: Ages 10-14, 90 mins, M-Th
- Cantate: Ages 12-18, 120 mins, M, Tu, Th
- Cantus (Tenor-Bass Ensemble): Ages 11-18, 90 mins, Tu & Th
- Chorus Prep classes: Ages 5-9, 45 mins, M

Artistic Duties:
- Artistic Vision & Leadership: Develop and implement an overarching artistic vision for PCC, ensuring the highest quality in all choirs and classes.
- Program Development: Oversee the selection of repertoire, curriculum development, and seasonal planning for concerts and external performances.
- Student Development: Manage student placement, evaluations, and progress reports. Lead auditions and choral assessments.
- Conductor: Serve as Lead Conductor for Cantate, combined choruses, special performances, and oversee international tours.
- Faculty Collaboration: Provide mentorship and guidance to PCC’s faculty, ensuring alignment with the program’s artistic vision.
Administrative Duties:
- Program Management: Collaborate with Peabody leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and staffing needs for PCC.
- Faculty & Staff Oversight: Lead faculty and staff searches, training, evaluations, and professional development.
- Communication & Marketing: Work with PCC staff and the Peabody Marketing team to enhance communications, digital presence, and recruitment - efforts.
- Performance Oversight: Partner with the Peabody Concert and Ensemble Office to oversee performance logistics, ticketing, and concert programs.
- Leadership: Conduct weekly faculty meetings, serve on the Peabody Preparatory Director’s Council, and participate in relevant administrative committees.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Choral Conducting or Music Education.
- 5-7 years of experience conducting children’s choirs at a high artistic level.
- Proven expertise in choral pedagogy and repertoire selection.
- Knowledge of diverse choral teaching methods (e.g., Kodály, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Orff).
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to grow and sustain choral programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an eye for detail.
- Experience in leading faculty teams and fostering professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strategic planning and budget management experience.
- Proven success in artistic collaborations.
- Experience in commissioning new choral works.
- Active involvement in professional choral organizations.
- Experience managing international tours.

Job Description
St. Albans School (STA) and National Cathedral School (NCS) are seeking a jointly appointed Associate Director of Choral Music beginning in Fall 2025.
St. Albans looks for candidates who will immerse themselves in the life of the school. In supporting the schools’ co-educational choral program, and in close collaboration with music department colleagues, the well-qualified candidate will:
• Serve as music director for Middle School and Upper School musicals.
• Lead or assist with choral rehearsals, especially in the Middle School and Upper School.
• Conduct works at all Middle School and Upper School performances.
• Organize logistical support for performances in the National Cathedral, in the community,
and on tour.
• Serve as an accompanist as needed.
• Exhibit an ability to teach with imagination and vigor.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in the department and make themselves active members
of the school community.
• Exhibit strong organizational and classroom management skills.
The position may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Maryland Choral Society
Artistic Director
The Maryland Choral Society (MCS) is a community choral group dedicated to quality performances for music enthusiasts in the Greater Washington area for over 5 decades. We are seeking an Artistic Director to provide artistic vision. They are responsible for the leadership and direction of every aspect of performances for the group. This includes programing, contracting guests artists and/or instrumentalists, maintaining high musical standards, and working collaboratively with the board and choir membership to establish and reach organizational goals.

NW Treble Chorus Assistant Director (Part-time, non-exempt)

ABOUT CHILDREN’S CHORUS OF WASHINGTON:
Children’s Chorus of Washington (CCW), now in its 29th season, nurtures artistic excellence and empowers young singers by celebrating our shared humanity and the value of every voice. CCW pursues a vision of a chorus that represents the racial, cultural, and economic diversity of the Greater Washington community, making its outstanding program accessible to children and youth of all backgrounds. We focus on cultivating an inclusive and welcoming environment where singers from across the DMV area experience transformative music education and world-class singing opportunities. Celebrated as the premier youth chorus in the nation’s capital, our 240+ singers, ranging from ages 6 to 18, regularly perform in DC’s most prestigious venues and tour worldwide.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assistant Director
Support ensemble director by leading warmups and sectionals, singing for and with students during rehearsal at director’s request
Lead one section of musicianship/theory class, following CCW’s curriculum. Track student progress and report scores and, if needed, write individual comments for students in the fall and spring semester.
Document and help director track individual student needs and any specific issues requiring follow up with parents or wider CCW team (student materials, behavior, skills)
Provide individual, small-scale instruction to singers during the rehearsal, provide quick and discreet assistance to choristers with markings, posture, pitch/rhythm etc
Establish and maintain good relationships with choristers and ensemble director
Provide additional classroom management support, ex: breaks for water or restroom or helping choristers attend to instructions
Work closely with ensemble director during dress rehearsals and concerts to ensure student safety & well being as well as a high-level of musical performance
Check in regularly (weekly or bi-weekly) with ensemble director for short and long term planning
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (minimum); Master's degree or higher (preferred); or comparable educational or professional experience in music - experience in Kodály, solfege, and comfortable with singing, piano, and solfege.
Minimum of three years experience working with young musicians (Ages 8-13)
Availability to participate in chorus rehearsals, classes, performances, and special events (intensives, tech rehearsals, etc)

COMPENSATION
The hourly rate of this position is $45-60 per hour based on experience.

Frederick Children’s Chorus
Located in historic downtown Frederick, MD, with participants from Frederick and neighboring counties, northern Virginia, and West Virginia.
After 40 years, Judy DuBose will be retiring from the position of Artistic Director at the end of the 2024–25 season.
Artistic Director is a full-time position. Responsibilities include planning concerts and performance collaborations, planning summer camps, and supervising programs for children ages 1 month to 18 years. Also managing all artistic staff. Reports directly to the Board of Directors. Salary negotiable.
Musicianship - The Frederick Children’s Chorus currently has openings for musicianship teachers for singers ages 3 years and up. Kodaly methods are foundational in the instruction of our singers. Reports to the Artistic Director. Starting January 7, 2025.
