About

ACDA MD/DC is the local chapter of the American Choral Directors Association for choral musicians in Maryland and the District of Columbia. This chapter is part of the Eastern Division and under the umbrella of the National ACDA headquarters

Founded in 1959, the ACDA is a nonprofit music education organization whose central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching. In addition, ACDA strives through arts advocacy to elevate choral music's position in American society.

Through concert performances by accomplished choirs, educational clinics by leading experts, and exhibits by music-industry representatives, members have access to diverse and practical conference forums in which to develop their skills and professional knowledge. National conferences are offered in March of odd-numbered years. Division conferences take place in February and March of even-numbered years. For more information about ACDA, please visit acda.org.

ACDA Advocacy Resolution

Whereas, the Human spirit is elevated to a broader understanding of itself through the study and performance in the aesthetic arts, and

Whereas, serious cutbacks in funding and support have steadily eroded state institutions and their programs throughout our country,

Be it resolved that all citizens of the United States actively voice their affirmative and collective support for necessary funding at the local, state, and national levels of education and government, to ensure the survival of arts programs.
